
Building 229 is part of the Avionics Software Support Complex a restricted/controlled access area. The campus consists of Buildings 229E (East), 229S (South), 229N (North) and are around the centrally located 229C. Building 229 has an ongoing project UHHZ170300 “R/R Controls for Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), B229” Project UHHZ70300 has been designed and is in construction performing modifications to the switchgear that will be replaced under this design project (UHHZ140046).
Project #1: Switchgear Replacement Building 229S (South) located at Robins AFB, Georgia -Asbestos Containing Material (ACM), Lead Based Paint (LBP) and Hazardous Material Surveys of the Avionics Software Complex
The Scope of Work (SOW) included conducting ACM, LBP, Hazardous Material and mold survey services in accordance with the 78th Civil Engineer Group Asbestos Operating Plan Robins Air Force Base dated January 2015, and the Scope of Work dated March 7, 2019. The ACM, LBP and hazardous material Surveys includes surveying the Building 229S in Areas “A” and “C” of which will be affected during the switchgear replacement project.
As part of the scope, Juniper (as a subcontractor to Etegra, Inc.) had an accredited asbestos building inspector, certified lead-based paint (LBP) inspector and a hazardous materials specialist conduct surveys of the building to identify potential asbestos containing material (ACM), lead- based paint (LBP), and hazardous materials that maybe disturbed or modified during renovation/construction. If any areas were identified for abatement, then the design shall address the requirements for worker notification, abatement and disposal of all hazardous materials.
